Office of Internal Audit and Investigations (OIAI)

Institution Background

UNICEF, the United Nations agency for children, works to protect the rights of every child, especially the most disadvantaged and those hardest to reach. Across more than 190 countries and territories, does whatever it takes to help children survive, thrive and fulfil their potential. We provide and advocate for education, health and nutrition services. Protect children from violence and abuse. Bring clean water and sanitation to those in need. And keep them safe from climate change and disease. The world’s largest provider of vaccines, UNICEF also runs the world’s largest humanitarian warehouse. Before, during and after emergencies, we’re on the ground with life-saving help and hope.

Internal Audit function

The Office of Internal Audit and Investigations (OIAI) conducts audits and other assurance activities as well as independent investigations into suspected misconduct, fraud and corruption and advises management and the Executive Board on its findings and concerns.

The Office supports UNICEF's culture of integrity and its commitment to a safe, productive and healthy work environment for all staff so that we can best serve and support the world’s most vulnerable children and assure our donors and partners that funds entrusted to us are used for their intended purpose

The OIAI internal audit function helps UNICEF accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control processes
