Internal Audit Service

Institution Background

UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide. UN Women supports UN Member States as they set global standards for achieving gender equality, and works with governments and civil society to design laws, policies, programmes and services needed to ensure that the standards are effectively implemented and truly benefit women and girls worldwide. It works globally to make the vision of the Sustainable Development Goals a reality for women and girls and stands behind women’s equal participation in all aspects of life.

Internal Audit function

The purpose of Internal Audit Services  (IAS) is to provide the Executive Director and Executive Board with independent, objective assurance and advisory services (as defined in the Financial Regulations and Rules, and in the Charter of the Independent Evaluation Audit and Investigation Services) that are designed to add value and improve UN-Women’s operations.

The mission of internal audit is to enhance and protect organizational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice and insight. IAS helps UN-Women accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to assess and improve the adequacy and effectiveness of governance, risk management and control processes.
